What does Higgins do to ruin Doolittle's life?

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Thought this was Dr. Doolittle for a second LOL My bad! Good Luck! Wish I could help ~ But I don't know anything about the concept I'm afraid Q_Q

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

I found this: http://www.shmoop.com/pygmalion/henry-higgins-timeline.html Could help! Did some search and I got this too: Higging tells rumors about Doolittle's life in Pygmalion to try to turn people against him!

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

That could have been why he was said to ruin Doolittle's life! It would have ruined mine too if it was me LOL Especially when people believe in those types of things! UGH!

^No, that's the wrong answer. Henry Higgins takes Eliza Doolittle (a WOMAN, not 'he') off the streets. She would peddle her wares as a flower girl. He takes her under his wing and teaches her to speak English proficiently with an educated accent and teaches her to behave sophisticatedly. Soon, she begins to fall in love with him, but he remains unconcerned. He treats her like she is just another student; a challenging badly-behaved buffoon whom he must tame. Once he is done teaching her, he is extremely terse with her and she is very disappointed. She leaves his house and believes that he ruined her life because now, having experienced a life of sophistication, she can no longer go back to earning her livelihood as a flower girl. That's the answer. (The play ends on a happy note though; they re-unite.) Hope this helps. :)
