I buried my father in my heart. Now he grows in me, my strange son, my little root who won’t drink milk, little pale foot sunk in unheard-of night, little clock spring newly wet in the fire, little grape, parent to the future wine, a son the fruit of his own son, little father I ransom with my life. Which structure is used in this excerpt from the poem “Little Father”? haiku free verse iambic ode

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Not a Haiku or a Iambic either ~ I believe that it's an Ode: An Ode poem is a poem that is about only one specific thing that you think is truly amazing and praiseworthy. This type of poem can be centered upon an object, an idea, or even a person. The trick to writing an ode poem is to write using the same structure throughout, while using different words to communicate the one thing you are writing about.

Could be a free verse though ~ If it dosen't have patterns, rhyme, or any other musical pattern....

Now he grows in me, my strange son, - 8 Syllables my little root who won’t drink milk, 8 Syllables little pale foot sunk in unheard-of night, 10 Syllables little clock spring newly wet - 6 Syllables in the fire, little grape, parent to the future - 13 Syllables wine, a son the fruit of his own son, - 8 Syllables little father I ransom with my life. - 10 Syllables *It dosen't have a pattern really........or any rhyme ~ Which is why it isn't a Haiku or a Iambic
