What are the x– and y–intercepts of the quadratic equation y = (x – 1)2 – 16? Identify the x–intercepts by graphing the quadratic equation. x–intercepts: (3, 0) and (–5, 0) y–intercept: (0, –16) x–intercepts: (–3, 0) and (5, 0) y–intercept: (0, –16) x–intercepts: (3, 0) and (–5, 0) y–intercept: (0, –15) x–intercepts: (–3, 0) and (5, 0) y–intercept: (0, –15)

OpenStudy (ranga):

I will leave the graphing part to you. But if you want to identify the intercepts algebraically, then for y intercept set x = 0 and find y. For x intercept, set y = 0 and solve for x.

use this site to help you graph, just plug in your equation and it will graph it for you https://www.desmos.com/calculator

and for exponents this is the symbol "^"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i put it in and it does not understand

OpenStudy (ranga):

On the left column, in the blank area enter: (x-1)^2 - 16 and it will graph it for you.

OpenStudy (ranga):

It will show dots where it cuts the x and y axes. You can click on the dot or just place the cursor on the dot and it will show you the x,y coordinates of the point.
