does anyone understand multipicities and polynomial functions and stuff?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have a few questions i need help on. any help would be extremely appreciated!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is equivalent to the following expression? \[(3p ^{2} +5pq -q ^{2})+(p ^{2}+3pq-2q ^{2})\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 3p^2+8pq-3q^2 B. 4p^2+8pq+q^2 C. 4p^4+8pq-3q^4 D. 4p^2+8pq-3q^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4p^2+8pq-3p^2= D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Combining like terms....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok ill post the next one in one sec. thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are the real or imaginary solutions of the polynomial equation? x^3-64=0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no clue how to do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answers are, A. 4,-1+2isqrt3 B. 4,1+2i3 C. 4,-2+2isqrt3 D. 4,-2+2isqrt3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@WinterRaine ? @Lexieloo ? @blubbernuggin ? @Ashleyisakitty ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*tears at hair* i hate algebra.. *cries*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find non-real solutions -- factor. a^3 - b^3 = (a - b)(a^2 + ab + b^2) x^3 - 64 = x^3 - 4^3 Using the pattern, x = a and 4 = b. (x - 4)(x^2 + 4x + 4^2) = 0 (x - 4)(x^2 + 4x + 16) = 0 Set both parentheses equal to 0. x - 4 = 0 x = 4 (that's the real solution) x^2 + 4x + 16 = 0 More factoring will get you nowhere here. It's best to use the quadractic equation. [-b +or- (root)(b^2 - 4ac)] / 2a [-4 +or- (root)(4^2 - 4*1*16)] / 2*1 [-4 +or- (root)(16 - 64)] / 2 [-4 +or- (root)(-48)] / 2 Take out i. [-4 +or- i (root)(48)] / 2 Factor 48 (to see what you can take out of the square root). [-4 +or- i (root)(2*2*2*2*3)] / 2 [-4 +or- 4i (root)(3)] / 2 Reduce. -2 +or- 2i (root)(3) so, either c or d--becuase those options are the same on your question (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow thats amazing! i think there are more to them hold on.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no C is 2i3 not B. so would it be B or D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well your c and d look like this (same) C. 4,-2+2isqrt3 D. 4,-2+2isqrt3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the ending of B is 1 + 2i sqrt of 3 the ending of D is 2+ 2i sqrt of 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c or d not b (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 4,-1+2isqrt3 B. 4,1+2isqrt3 C. 4,-2+2i3 D. 4,-2+2isqrt3 these are the right answers. i messed up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so B is 4,1+2isqrt3,1 + 2i sqrt of 3 and D is 4,-2+2isqrt3 2+ 2i sqrt of 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks a bunch!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep. anytime :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have some more if your up to it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I could try, sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which is a factored form of 8x^3+27? A(2x+3)(2x+3)(2x+3) B(2x+3)(4x^2-6x+9) C(2x-3)(4x^2+6x+9) D(2x-9)(4x^2+18x+81)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think C but im not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a^3 - b^3 = (a - b) * (a² + ab + b²) a = 2x and b = -3 <=> (2x)^3 - (-3)^3 = (2x - (-3)) * ((2x)² + (2x * (-3)) + (-3)²) = (2x + 3) * (4x² - 6x + 9) so B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B cool. your a lifesaver!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you know what? I think your right. C is the correct answer. sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh it is? ok i have another one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2x)^3 - (3)^3 = (2x - 3)[(2x)^2 + (2x)(3) + (3)^2] = (2x - 3) (4x^2 + 6x + 9)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is a polynomial function in standard form with zeros 1,2,-2, and -3? A x^4+2x^3+7x^2-8x+12 B x^4+2x^3-7x^2-8x+12 C x^4+2x^3-7x^2+8x+12 DX^4+2x^3+7x^2+8x+12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x - 1)(x - 2)(x + 1)(x + 3) (I'll work it out real fast..)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool. i love you so much! lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the answer I got was different that your options, so I'll double check here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok let me know cause igot like a ton more. i have to pass this class so i can move on to a junior.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, I don't know how to get one of those answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. ill post another. Divide -2x^3-5x^2+4x+2 by x+2 A-2x^2-x+6 B-2x^2-x+6, R14 C -2x^2-x+6,R-10 D -2x^2-9x+22, R-42

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B or C. I believe c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

next one! Find the roots of the polynomial equation x^3-x^2+x+39 A 1+3i,1-3i,-3 B 1+3i, 1-3i,3 C -2+3i, -2-3i, -3 D 2+3i,2-3i,-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks i love you so much. im done for now but ill have more tmmrw if your on?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks (: I'll try to be!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks your a big help. wish i could give you like 4000000 medals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wish I could get like 400000 medals!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

XD i can try.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@WinterRaine are you able to help me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

help on this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sunnyshores @Smexi_Girl @Skyz @sharon_penn @omgkelley @lulu22 @Lorii95 @lizzyend515 @LaceyLeanne @GodIsMySavior @Gatorgirl @bakonloverk @Ashleyisakitty can you guys help?!?!? i hate algebra 2...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Jonathan1997

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, #7 is B I am working on the rest

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool thanks all ^-^
