5x ^ 3 -5x ^2-30x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find x?

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

If you're trying to find the solutions to this, first, you may factor out an "x", to make the function: \[x(5x^2-5x-30)=0\] After looking at this for awhile, you may find out that you cannot break this trinomial into 2 binomials (which would have made this quicker). So, we must use the quadratic formula to get the other x-values, if they exist. Remember, one solution is x, for we factored it out (if you don't believe me just plug it in). Hoped this helped, feel free to pst me if further elaboration is required. :)

5 x^3 - 5 x^2 - 30 x = 5 x (x + 2) (x - 3)

what are the zeros of the function? what are their multiplicities? f(x)= 5x cubed-5x sqred-30x this is the full problem srry i didnt say tht earlier

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

@robtobey Lol, oh yeah, you can factor out a 5, nice catch.

since @robtobey solve it for you already, and to answer your question, this link will help you understand what you really want... http://www.purplemath.com/modules/polyends2.htm
