I believe you need to use logarithms to solve this. Take the log or ln (natural log) of both sides. log 2^(3x-4) = log 5. Look up log rules. The exponent can be moved to the front. So it becomes (3x-4) log2 = log5. Log2 and log5 are just numbers. Use a calculator. Then solve for x.
