Can someone please help me? I'm not looking for answers, I'm just looking for what it's asking for. Medal to the best!!! It's an easy question!!! A bicycle tire has a diameter of twenty-six inches. If a pebble is stuck in the tire's treads, about how far will the pebble travel with each rotation of the tire?

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

you have to find the circumference of the circle. the formula is pi times diameter

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Bicycle Tire ~ Diameter 26 Inches |dw:1386023878689:dw|

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

If a pebble is stuck in the tire's treads, about how far will the pebble travel with each rotation of the tire? ---> The treads are the rubber parts of the bicycle ~

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

It's asking you to find how far the pebble will travel with each rotation of the tire ~ Having a diameter of 26 inches ~

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

26 * Pi = 81.6814089933.... So the circumference of the circle (tire) is about 81 inches ~

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Well.......I think ya got it now LOL Good Luck!

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

actually it would be more like 82 bc if you rounded using 81.68 it would round to 82, but close enough :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait... so first find the circumference. Then what? @esshotwired @charlotte123

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

just find the circumference and thats the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So yes, I got 81.64 as the circumference. OH I thought you would have to divide by 2 or something to see how far it would go lol @esshotwired

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

oh haha. yup but make sure you have the ending unit correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

81.64 @esshotwired

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

the ending unit would be inches so 81.64in
