OpenStudy (awkwardpanda):

When you square each side of an equation, is the resulting equation equivalent to the original?

OpenStudy (awkwardpanda):

Can you give me an example please?

OpenStudy (therealmeeeee):

For example, x = 2 has only one solution and that is x = 2. but x2 = 4, the squared equation, has two solutions: x = +2 and x = -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If an equation is true and each side of the equation is squared or multiplied or divided by the same nonzero number, the resulting equation is equivalent to the original

OpenStudy (awkwardpanda):

Thank you both!
