Please help! A hyperbola has vertices (0,-6) and (0,6) and asymptotes y=3/4x and y=-3/4x. PART 1: In what direction is this hyperbola oriented? PART 2: What are the coordinates of the center of this hyperbola? PART 3: What are the values of A & B for this hyperbola? PART 4: Write the equation of this hyperbola.

lousy picture, but you get the idea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you got the center?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would the center be (0,0)?:o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

half way between the vertices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about PART 1: In what direction is this hyperbola oriented? if there are two hyperbolas on the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i made a rather lousy picture above of the hyperbola you can tell how it is oriented from the vertices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the hyperbola is both parts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but if one is up and one is down, what does it mean by "in what direction is the hyperbola oriented?
