7/10+2/5-1/10
in order to add/subtract fractions, the denominators must all be the same so 2/5 = 4/10 right? now \[\frac{ 7 }{ 10 } + \frac{ 4 }{ 10 } - \frac{ 1 }{ 10 }\]7+4=11 now that the denominators are the same 11-1=10 add/subtract the numerators then put it back over the denominator 10/10 = 1
so the correct answer is 1 right
yep :)
okk thanks
for the class photo 1/5 of the students wore jeans 2/10 of the students wore shorts and 4/10 of the students wore a skit what ration of the students wore something else
total minus others so \[\frac{ 10 }{ 10 } - \frac{ 2 }{ 10 } - \frac{ 2 }{ 10 } - \frac{ 4 }{ 10 }\]
so is 4/10 the answer
yep :)
but what if you simplify
ah, right 4 and 10 are both divizable by 2 right? and so 4/2 = 2 10/2 = 5 so 4/10 simplified would be 2/5
