How to simplify n(n+4) - n(n-2)

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I'd start by multiplying out the two products, using the distributive rule. For example, n(n+4) = n^2 + 4n. What about -n(n-2)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Distribute first. It will be n^2+4n-n^2+2n. Next combine like terms. The n^2s cancel out, and it is 6n. So simplified it is equal to 6n
