TWO BALLS on a frictionless surface collide and stick, which is not conserved? a. momentum, b. angular momentum, c. kinetic energy, d. mass

OpenStudy (usman1995):

momentum bcz law of momentum states m1v1=m2v2 but when it sticks m1v1 becomes zero means body of first ball becomes zero and second body don't attain any momentum or u can say for convinience that the eqution i stated above can only be proven if ball strikes and both ball than experience opposite force

OpenStudy (rajat97):

sorry @Usman1995, you are wrong the kinetic energy of the system will not be conserved and the momentum will be conserved as no external force is acting on the system of the balls(by system of the balls , i mean that the two balls collectively) so if there is no external force acting on the system, the momentum of the system cannot change more over, the velocity of the system may change to conserve the momnentum so the kinetic energy will also change hope this helps you

OpenStudy (rajat97):

okay then i'm sorry @Usman1995

OpenStudy (usman1995):

don't mention it @rajat97 who knows may be i'm also not true......
