Is anyone online who's really, really good with linear equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

not amazing but im good...

Ok, for starters, can any of you remind me how to do this problem? Choose the equation of the line passing through the point (-4, -2) and perpendicular to y = -x + 6. y = -x + 6 y = x - 6 y = -x - 2 y = x + 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the slope of this line is -1 (from y = mx + b) the slope of the line perpendicular to it its negative reciprocal so it would be -1/-1 = 1 now find the equation of the line with slope 1 passing through (-4, -2) [you can ignore the intercept of 6] \[(y−y0)=m(x−x0) \]\[(y−(−2))=1(x−(−4))\]\[ y+2=x+4 \]\[y=x+2\]

Thanks!
