Silly me
First, rearrange the equation into the form y=mx+b
Okay
What's y=mx+b?
That is the general form. Compare your equation to it and rearrange so that you have the y, x, and constant(b) where they should be.
Oh okay! 2x-3y=6?
Close. You will need only the y on the left side. The rest are on the right side.
Oh okay! so -3y=2x+6?
Close. But note that you want a positive y.
Oh lol 3y=2x+6?
Um, what did you do to get a positive y? Did you not multiply everything with -1?
WAIT A MINUTE
I have no idea what I am doing :( So to answer your question, I was playing the guessing game
Daheck did you do lol. Do it step by step please and show me. How do you rearrange the equation?
Hmmmm... I have no idea what I did....
lol
I never really understood how to solve this kind of question :(
Well you want a positive y with no constant. So you move -3y to the right and get: 2x=3y+6 Now you move the six to the left 2x-6=3y Now divide everything with 3 2/3x-2=y or y=1/3x-2 Now compare to y=mx+b m is the gradient, and b is the y-intercept
Oh okay! that makes sense! Is that like the "isolate the variable" idea?
The what the what? I have no idea. I don't remember names. But can you sketch a graph with that info now?
Lol I always forget names too. :D And sure! Hold on
Me and my sloppy handwriting
Mine looks a heck of a lot like the last option
Are you sure that's the x-intercept?
The what?
Oh, that thing we did before?
And thank you for your patients btw
x-intercept. Replace y=0 in the equation we obtained and see what x is.
Oh! I just checked my notes, and it say.. x-intercept = the point where the line crosses the x-axis Oh and it ended up being 1/3x-2
I'm a pretty slow learner lol
Right, so when the line crosses the x-axis, y should be zero, right? So you replace y with 0 and find x. That is your x-intercept
Oh yeah!! (x,0)
Now it's starting to make sense lol! :D
the little lightbulb has turned on...
Um, I told you what to do already. Replace y with 0. So you have 1/3x-2=0 Find x
It's sloppy, but it's representing the y=0 and (2,3)
...How did you get (2,3) ?
ignore the old ones, I messed up Actually, I'll delete them
Um, this might take longer. Can I come back tonight and see if you still need help? I need to finish my homework first
Maybe 1/3x-2 (1/3x-2 , 0)
So shall i plot that?
No... Pixie, look at what I said above. "Um, I told you what to do already. Replace y with 0. So you have 1/3x-2=0 Find x"
Oh! Find x! Okay! 1/3*6-2 x=6!!!
:D
YES. THANK YOU! Lol. That's not usually how you solve it but ok. So now you know on the y axis the line intercepts at -2, on the x axis it intercepts at 6. Now you can sketch it
So then the answer would be the last graph?
Yes
WOW! THANK YOU SO MUCH! YOU HAVE BEEN AN AWESOME TEACHER TO ME :D
Lol you're welcome. Glad to help.
Have a BLESSED day!
As soon as SS is fixed, I'm being your fan and writing you a testimonial
Haha thank you. Have a good day yourself and stay warm.
Yes, I'll certainly try to lol
