\[4\sqrt{\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }}\] \[4\frac{ 1 }{ \sqrt{2} }\] times it with 1 \[1=\frac{ \sqrt{2} }{ \sqrt{2} }\] right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, it would be: \[4\frac{ 1 }{ \sqrt{2} }\times \frac{ \sqrt{2} }{ \sqrt{2} }\] \[4\frac{ \sqrt{2} }{ 2 }\] \[2\sqrt{2}\]

OpenStudy (phi):

the idea is people do not like sqrt in the "bottom" to get rid of it, multiply top and bottom by sqr(2) you should know that sqr(2) * sqr(2) = 2 (Learn sqr(x) * sqr(x) = x ) that is what tblue did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{1}=1\] but \[\sqrt{2}=\sqrt{2}\] to make it easier u have to times it with 1 ex. \[2 \times1=2\] still 2 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and we can changes 1 by \[\frac{ \sqrt{2} }{ \sqrt{2} }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why we have to times it by 1? because we have to rationalized that number
