HELP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Which one do you need help with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ALL

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok let's start with 26 then

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

notice we have a table of x and y values that pair up for instance the first row has 0 under the x and 0 under the y so when x = 0, y = 0 the second row says that when x = 2, y = 12 etc etc

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

now let's look at the answer choices if the answer was A) y = -6x, then plugging in x = 2 *should* give you y = 12 let's see if it does y = -6x y = -6*2 ... plug in x = 2 (ie replace x with 2) y = -12 so we did NOT get y = 12 like we wanted. That means choice A is NOT the answer

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

See how that works out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep.. I think that the answer is D because y=6x 12=6*2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I think you meant to say B (instead of D). But yes, you are correct. The answer is y = 6x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wht grade r u in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what middle school

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

@jim_thompson5910 Wouldn't it be y=-6x by hooke's law?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

not according to the table Isaiah.Feynman

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

but I see how you got that negative since Hooke's Law is F = -kx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello someone answer me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am so confused... So is it B or y=-6x?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it's y = 6x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay then I got it right :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for #27 couldn't I just do proportions? Would it be correct or is there another way on how to do it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ANSWERRRRR ME NOW

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you are correct for #27, you need to solve the equation 24/30 = x/45

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

afeefa20, the question is irrelevant and way too personal. If she doesn't want to answer, then don't pressure her to do so. Besides, that sort of thing is for private chat anyway.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@afeefa20 Look... Why do you need that info? If I ignored your question at first.. Do you really think I would answer it? No. And also it's none of your business... I don't need a stalker..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 I agree with you..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cuz I need to know what state u r in cuz i will help u in anything u need. If u r living in TEXAS then I would help u cuz im a highschooler who would be honored to help u in anything or anyway. SO DOES THAT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION???????????????????????????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Umm.. well you could have asked it differently.. Besides on my profile it does say SOFLO.. So you could have already known that I live in Florida... Okay whatever... Can you help with question #28?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

give me a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

H ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8/12 = x/32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would be H cuz in this problem u r doing proportions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for 26 rise/run so y1-y0/x1-x0 that should give the slope m for y=mx+b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the slopes i think you can take any two points on each line and apply this er: y2-y1/x2-x1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=6x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can even cheat by checking x and y so for instance 12 = 6(2) y=6(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

eg. for the first one (0,1) and (1,3) m= (3-1)/(1-0) = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry 4 the touble

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@afeefa20 It's alright....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u look more older in the pic like a highschooler

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which one r u in the pic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm on the left... and yeah i'm pretty tall

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

did you still need help blue_eyedblondie, or is it all making sense now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't get number 33

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and number 36

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hmm don't see a #33 or a #36

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it only goes up to #31

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

# 33 f(12) means "find the value of f(x) when x = 12" so you just plug in x = 12 and evaluate f(x) = 3x - 10 f(12) = 3(12) - 10 ... replace EVERY copy of x with 12 f(12) = 36 - 10 f(12) = 26

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that makes sense! :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

for # 36, you take 30% of 1500 to get... 30% of 1500 = (30/100) * 1500 ... remember "percent" means "per hundred" 30% of 1500 = (0.30) * 1500 30% of 1500 = 450 So she must get at most 450 calories from fat

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alrighty... I understand slopes, but the graph makes me confused for numbers 29 , 30 and 31

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@s.mustafa88 can you explain how you got those answers?
