I need someones help!

Write each answer as a power of 2. Show your work and explain your steps. a. Computer capacity is often measured in bits and bytes. A bit is the smallest unit, which is 1 or 0, in the computer’s memory. A byte is 2^3 bits. A megabyte (MB) is 2^20 bytes. How many bits are in megabytes? b. A gigabyte (GB) is 2^30 bytes. How many megabytes are in a gigabyte? How many bits are in a gigabyte?

OpenStudy (shamil98):

1024 megabytes in a gigabyte

OpenStudy (shamil98):

8589934592 bits in a gigabyte

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For question a and b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(23)20=23×20=260

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

You guys just confused her. Specify your answers please!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right.

OpenStudy (shamil98):

for a : 8388608 bits in a megabyte for b: 1024 megabytes in a gigabyte 8589934592 bits in a gigabyte

OpenStudy (ranga):

a) 2^20 bytes / megabyte * 2^3 bits / byte = 2^23 bits per megabyte (Says give each answer as a power of 2)

OpenStudy (ranga):

b) One Gigabyte = 2^30 bytes One Megabyte = 2^20 bytes One Gigabyte = 2^30 bytes = 2^10 * 2^20 = 2^10 Megabytes. Bits in a Gigabyte = 2^30 bytes / Gigabyte * 2^3 bits / byte = 2^33 bits / Gigabyte.

thank you :)

OpenStudy (ranga):

you are welcome.
