I have to imagine i am one of these political figures. I chose to be Alexander Hamilton . My assignment is to write a persuasive speech in the first person point of view of a Federalist or anti-federalist (I chose Alexander Hamilton- a federalist) My questions are: What was Alexander's position about the newly drafted Constitution? Should it be ratified or no? Why do i take this stance(reference his background and how it shaped his views as a federalist) and why do i think my opponent's (Anti federalists) stance is a dangerous one for the new country? Please answer what you can! Thank You !
Alexander Hamilton, being a Federalist, was an advocate for the ratification of the Constitution. He, along with John Jay and James Madison wrote the Federalist Papers, a series of articles & essays pushing for the ratification of the Constitution. The Federalists were also nationalists, favoring a strong central government, unlike the anti-Feds (men like Patrick Henry who were afraid of such powers being given to the central government)
The anti-feds were 'dangerous' in the sense that they were not 'united' which the Feds feared would lead to factions, as written by James Madison in Federalist Paper #10 if i'm not mistaken. Hope this helps. Sorry I had to break it up into two parts… my comp was lagging -.-
