PLease all i need is help with A!! Part A: Explain why the x-coordinates of the points where the graphs of the equations y = 2-x and y = 4x + 3 intersect are the solutions of the equation 2-x = 4x + 3. (4 points)

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

Sorry, I don't know :(

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Hey guys would it be: Because the point they intersect would be the value of x?

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

@thomaster

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

maybe he will have an idea

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

hes usually good at this kind of stuff

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

i need help fast because this is my last question and im about to black out of exhaustion....

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

Oh I know how that feels! Sorry i cant help... I feel your pain :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Intersection means that the (x,y) coordinates are on both lines. The equation helps you to find that point by calculating that point. The left hand side is the y-value for the y=2-x line and the right hand side does the same for the other side. When you solve for x you will find the value for x that gives the same y for both functions.
