What is the slope of this chart Zero, Undefined, negative or postive?

OpenStudy (ttp):

@CLOUDYskies

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Well...as the 'x' increases, so does the 'y' that looks something like |dw:1386802344689:dw| What kind of slope is this?

OpenStudy (ttp):

undefined

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

An undefined slope would actually be a vertical line...remember slope = rise/run if there is no change in 'x' then we have a vertical line...and we know we cannot divide by 0 so this would be undefined... a 0 slope..would be if the 'y' didnt change...but it does here... A negative slope would be if the 'x' was going up, the 'y' would be going down... Which slope is this one?

OpenStudy (ttp):

Postive?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

There you go!

OpenStudy (ttp):

Could you help me on 2 more like this? :)

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Sure :)

OpenStudy (ttp):

What kind of slope is this negative or undefined?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Alright so like I said above... If the 'x' doesn't change we have an undefined slope if the 'y' doesn't change we have a 0 slope if the 'x' goes up while the 'y' goes up we have a positive slope if the 'x' goes down while the 'y' does too...we have a negative slope.. which fits this one?

OpenStudy (ttp):

Negative?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Perfect :)

OpenStudy (ttp):

Thnak you :)

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

No problem!
