I will become a fan! :) ALGEBRA 2 PLEASE HELP!!! Simplify the expression -|-13| Im not sure how to do this…. totally stumped !

OpenStudy (hitaro9):

A number inside those two verticle lines means "absolute value" which is just a fancy way of saying make it positive So you're essentially looking at -(Positive version of -13) which would be -(13) which is -13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hah, oh ok I see, so is that how i solve it? only to find out its -13 (scrathces on head)

OpenStudy (hitaro9):

It's just making sure you know what absolute value is. If you see those verticle lines, make the number inside positive, and then do stuff.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok, then what?

OpenStudy (hitaro9):

Well you're done.

OpenStudy (hitaro9):

-13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok i get it! :) Thank you so much!

OpenStudy (hitaro9):

It's no problem. It's really not tough. If you see those two lines just turn the inside positive.

OpenStudy (hitaro9):

And then do stuff.
