PLEASE HELP!!! WILL REWARD MEDAL/FAN!! The Downtown Community Center does not charge a rental fee as long as a rentee orders a minimum of $5,000 worth of food from the center. Antonio is planning a banquet for the Quarterback Club. If he is expecting at least 225 people to attend, what is the minimum he will have to spend on food per person? Thank you!~

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[5000\div225 = \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"per" when used in a word problem means "divided by". So, we want to know food per person, which is the same as saying we want to know food/person(or food cost, per person, in this case). Assuming Antonio is going to buy $5,000 worth of food, you just plug the numbers into what you want to know. So $5000(food cost)/225(people) to get $22.2

:)

OpenStudy (lilai3):

XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct, but money only goes to 2 decimal places, so you round it to the nearest hundredth.

OpenStudy (lilai3):

there is an inequality in this problem.

OpenStudy (lilai3):

lol yeah i know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If there is, then you haven't given enough information.

OpenStudy (lilai3):

Is it 225>5,000? The inequality, I meant.

OpenStudy (lilai3):

225x>5,000******

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ahh, right; the minimum. That should be a variable, then. M>5000/225; or your inequality. Either way, $22.22 is the correct value; you can just state it a different way. You could also say that he will expect to spend somewhere between [$22.22, infinity] dollars, in interval notation(though I doubt Antonio wants to spend infinity dollars for his little gathering;)

OpenStudy (lilai3):

so, am i right? .......

OpenStudy (lilai3):

@danielcb114 ? am i right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, you are right. Good job!

OpenStudy (lilai3):

thank you very much! p.s. i noticed that you went from level 29 to level 31 now. you must be a good teacher/tutor! thanks! bye!

OpenStudy (lilai3):

and...now you are on level 36....hahhah
