OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it was possible would you change your child's genes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Parents would make their children look like famous celebs or artists. I would make mine look like Ash Ketchum...

OpenStudy (dylangr1997):

I dont know. this is a very controversial subject. I dont think i would because I would want them to be unique and just be themselves

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In my essay I said I would but I need something to support my answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any ideas @Ballplop @DylanGR1997

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think you should explain why you would change them, is there a genetic diseases... health issues... certain things like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Depends what side are you on? Are you for it or against? or is it just en expository?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

FOr it

OpenStudy (dylangr1997):

you could say..."I would because it is a way to get the child of my dreams." or " I would because it prevents the rebellious children from getting into trouble with the law" is that what you are looking for?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Explain why you are for it, if it has nothing to do with health issues then the only ideas I get for someone wanting to change the genes of their child. In response to @DylanGR1997 a child is rebellious because they want attention that has nothing to do with genes

OpenStudy (dylangr1997):

there actually are correlations between genes and behavior

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You could say it would get rid of mutations/health defects.

OpenStudy (dylangr1997):

Stanford can back me up... http://www.stanford.edu/~wine/202/g-and-b.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also, is this tech available to everyone or only to the wealthy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, thank you! and are mutations a good thing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Assuming everyone could use it, there would be less orphans. Some orphans are orphans cause of health problems or deficiencies that the parents dont like

OpenStudy (dylangr1997):

@justinee does that help you out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes!:)

OpenStudy (dylangr1997):

because now you have scientific evidence to back it up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Ballplop Ok thank you. Are mutations a good thing or bad? because you said it would get rid of it and health problems

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mutations can be good but most of the time they aren't. I cant give specific examples cause im not very skilled with this subject.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Have you thought that maybe fixing the genes could cause a mutation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it does create a mutation, cant they just change it again?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not when you have the end result

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The question is also broad. It could mean from the Child already outside of the womb or before birth, but im taking from the child already out of the womb.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you could endlessly alter the genes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can not alter genes out of the womb

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well this could be a future question were anything is possible. Which is what i was thinking about.. The question did say child, not baby or fetus. I may be wrong and I see your point.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it'd be best to do research a lot is changing over time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree

OpenStudy (muneefa):

It is possible.if you want to know about this you can search about DESIGNER CHILD.
