The radius, diameter, or circumference of a circle is given. Find the missing measures. Round to the nearest hundredth if necessary. d = 16.4 mm., r = ? , C = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got r = 32.8 mm, C = 51.52 mm but that wasnt the right answer. I did the problem wrong :(

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Diameter is twice the radius |dw:1387207121493:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont get that radius stuff

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but continue on :) im gonna study all that

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\[C=2πr=dπ\]|dw:1387207319402:dw|

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

see the radius and diameter?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i get it now :) thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the diameter is the longest one and the radius is at the edge of the center

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yes.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

|dw:1387207615008:dw|the circumference is the edge of the circle. (not the area or the radius or diameter)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh... okay i see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well how do you do this?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\[π~≈~3.14\]ALWAYS.\[d=16.4\](in your question)\[π \times d~=~C\]\[3.14 \times 16.4~=~51.496≈ 51.5\]

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\[2r=d~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(ALWAYS)\]\[if~~~~~~~~~~~~~~d=16.4\]\[16.4=2r~~~~~~~~~~~->~~~~~~~~~r=8.2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh okay thank you! i did the opposite of that. i got it now you explain very well
