Options are B and C.... I want to know why D is wrong...?

Directrix (directrix):

>>I want to know why D is wrong...? Suppose x = -5. Then, √( (-5)^2) = √25 = 5. -5 is not equal to 5.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would say B, but I am not for sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanq u..... i got it....

Directrix (directrix):

B must be true because if x is negative, then x^3 is also negative AND x^2 must be positive. A negative number is less than a postive number.

Directrix (directrix):

C must be true because x + (1/x) = (x^2 + 1) / x. If x is negative, then x^2 + 1 (numberator) is always positive. The denominator is always negative if x is negative. And, a positive divided by a negative is always negative.

Happy to help.
