The turgor pressure in a plasmolysed cell is..?? A. negative B. positive C. Zero And why?.
Plasmoilysis occurs when a cell is placed in a hypertonic solution and loses water. This results in a loss of turgor pressure as the central vacuole drains out.
Yaa i knw that but is the turgor pressure negative or zero.. ??
Actually we recently had a test and theres a big contrvery about this question.. In some references its given zero and in others negative
i would go for A. negative
Thanks.. :) can u explain ur logic?
Plant cells in a more hypotonic solution will absorb water by endosmosis. The increased volume of water in the cell will increase pressure, making the protoplasm push against the cell wall, a condition known as turgor.
Thanks a lot.. :) ;)
did it really help
