Probability: What is the chances of hitting an alien at least once if N soldiers have a p1, p2 and p3 percent change of hitting the alien at least once. For example... I have three soldiers that are about to shoot at one alien. The first has a 45% chance of hitting the alien, the second has a 50% chance, the third has a 60% chance. What is the chance that at least one of the soldiers will hit the alien? This is for a video game, by the way; XCOM: Enemy Unknown

the probabilities are independent, i assume. if so, 1 - p(all miss)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

p(all miss) = p(a misses)*p(b misses)*p(c misses)

get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so...so in the example, the probability would simply be 1-(.5*.45*.6)...correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

Awesome; thanks for your help!
