OpenStudy (anonymous):

Disruptive Disruptive coloration is the use of color to break up the shape of an animal so that its form or outline is more difficult to see. Some scientists suspect that fishes ranging from striped emperor angelfish to polka dot-covered whale sharks use disruptive coloration to make it difficult for potential predators and prey to perceive them as an individual animal.
