How many terms are there in the expression 2x - 5y + 3 + x? 1) 3 2) 4 3) 5 4) 6

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

prior to reducing? count them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

technically you should reduce first though

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Hi, coffeeismylife A term is an integer, who's value is not i, and is greater than 0 or less than 0.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mhm.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Do you have a definition for the word: $$\Huge term$$

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah. Term means "part of the expressions and equations seperated by operation symbols and/ or equal signs"

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

I prefer the much simpler definition: term: In the sum a + b, a and b are called terms.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Using this definition simply count them :-)
