Help Please... :/ Small Word Problem MEDALS WILL BE REWARDED !!

OpenStudy (abdela25):

the debate club needs $240.00 to attend a debate tournament. the club decides to sell cups of iced tea and lemonade at a baseball games. iced tea will be sold for $0.50 per cup and lemonade will be sold for $0.80 per cup i know that the y-intercept=(0, 300) and the x-intercept=(480, 0) what i need is to graph these two sets of points AND Use your graph to find three different combinations of cups of iced tea sold and cups of lemonade sold that will raise $240.00

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Graph the line y = 1/2x for the tea Graph the line y = 4/5x for the lemonade

OpenStudy (abdela25):

could you show me how to graph it.. @Mertsj i suck at graphing -_-

OpenStudy (mertsj):

y = 1/2 x y intercept is 0. From there go up 1 and right 2 y = 4/5 x y intercept is 0. From there go up 4 and right 5

OpenStudy (abdela25):

okay if i graph that.. it asks "Use your graph to find three different combinations of cups of iced tea sold and cups of lemonade sold that will raise $240.00" what will i do for that @Mertsj this is the problem: the debate club needs $240.00 to attend a debate tournament. the club decides to sell cups of iced tea and lemonade at a baseball games. iced tea will be sold for $0.50 per cup and lemonade will be sold for $0.80 per cup and i know that the y-intercept=(0, 300) and the x-intercept=(480, 0) so wouldnt i graph those 2 points? im confused now @Mertsj

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Graph the line 1/2 x + 4/5 y = 240 Any point on that line will be a solution.

OpenStudy (abdela25):

y=240? how do i do that

OpenStudy (abdela25):

could you just draw it out for me

OpenStudy (abdela25):

@Mertsj

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Use your graphing calculator

OpenStudy (abdela25):

i dont have 1

OpenStudy (abdela25):

this is soo hard im lost now but thanks for your help anyway medal was awarded and question is closed im giving up on it @Mertsj

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Not going to get very far in life if you give up just because something is hard. When something is hard that means that you work harder...not quit.
