Which is considered the first equation and which is the second?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the system of equations the picture down there is one equation and the second equation in the question they are both tied together

OpenStudy (ranga):

Yes, I understand that. But the answer makes reference to the "first" equation and the "second" equation. You have typed one equation and you have a link for another. I am asking which is the "first" equation and which is the "second" equation as it appears in your book?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first equation is the picture the second is in the question itself

OpenStudy (ranga):

y = 3/4x + 3 (1) 2x – 4y = 6 (2) To use elimination, you have to write the first equation in the standard form.

OpenStudy (ranga):

Equation (2) is already in the standard form. But equation (1) is in the slope-intercept form. Rewrite equation (1) in standard form before using the elimination method to solve the equations.

ok thankyou so much @ranga

you are welcome.
