can someone please explain what Inorganic chemistry is all about? Thanks in advance!

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Inorganic chemistry has a vague definition, "not-organic chemistry"; it deals with everything besides carbon... It is a massive field, so you should narrow it down a bit.

yea, aaronq is right. Organic chemistry is focused on carbon, carbon based compounds, and primarily deals with covalent & hydrogen bonds between carbon and other elements. Inorganic chemistry is usually "Chemistry 1 & Chemistry 2" in schools. It covers the basics of how elements interact with each other, the periodic table and its significance, how to read chemical formulas, balance them, ionic bonds and compounds are mainly used in lab.. really its very broad.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Inorganic chemistry classifies all other elements and compounds not containing carbon.

thank you all!
