what type of scale is this ? ordinal or nominal ? an auto dealership records the number of cars sold during the past 12 months. is there evidence to indicate that the number of cars sold increases?

Do you know what the definition of the terms ordinal and nominal are?

ordinal have number but nominal do not.. right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My textbook defines an ordinal scale as "a measurement scale in which numbers are ranks, but equal differences between numbers do not represent equal differences between the things measured." (Spatz 2011). A nominal scale is "a measurement scale in which numbers serve only as labels and do not indicate a quantitative relationship. I think an ordinal scale would be used to describe how many cars are sold in 12 months. Perhaps this car dealership sold 2 cars in Jan., 4 cars in Feb., etc. The number of cars sold per month is just a label. 2 cars sold in January does not indicate a relationship between the number of cars sold and the month of the year.
