@SolomonZelman In what case will there be exceptions in the pronunciation of vowels?
In which language? I don't quite get the question....
In Russian, like тобой->tAboy свободное->svAbodnoye
(i don't know if i spelt them correctly, hope you know what i'm talking about)
союз->swAyuz
всегда->vs i gda
There is no such a word as полягоно. свободное, союз, всегда. At first, do you know that there are 3 genders in Russian language when it comes to adjectives? Male, Female, and it.
свободное means that something is free. Specifically something, not someone. "ое" defines to what/whom the adj refers to.
and then?
but how do I know when to they change their pronunciation?
pronunciation of what?
of the vowels
All these words mean Free (adj) but, свободное something of a middle gender (it's called middle gender) will get into that. http://translate.google.com/#en/ru/%D1%81%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%BD%D0%BE%D0%B5 свободная referring to a woman/girl. http://translate.google.com/#en/ru/%D1%81%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%8F свободный referring to a man. http://translate.google.com/#en/ru/%D1%81%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%BD%D1%8B%D0%B9

It's called the "neuter" gender if you wanna refer :)
Yeah, neuter, forgot that term.
I'm asking why they pronounce it as svAbodnoye but not svObodnoye lol
or is the O sound a little bit similar to the A sound in Russian?
It's just the same way Americans say not with sound A, instead of sound O (it's supposed to actually be with O, pronounced as not, not as nat.)
I see, thank you
But I can clearly hear the difference between the two о's in the word тобой... P.S. YAY I CAN FINALLY TYPE A WORD USING THE RUSSIAN LAYOUT :DDDD
Nice to hear that. ( Are you planning to like learn Russian? )
maybe just studying another language lol... P.S. There is a difference between studying a language and learning a language
