If the measure of arc QR is 50°, what is the measure of angle PQR?
75°
50°
25°
65°
OpenStudy (anonymous):
To find the solution you only need to know what the 50 degree is.
Can you draw one extra line to make that 50 degree appear?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
extra line that pass through PQ
OpenStudy (anonymous):
No.
It will be from the center of the circle to R

u mean like this
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Let us call the center of the circle O.
Than the angle QOR will be 50!
The angle next it will be 180-50=130
And you can notice that PO=OR as both are the radius of the circle.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Try to finish it from here
OpenStudy (anonymous):
how??
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Make a drawing of your own on a piece of paper and label all the angles that you know.

like this
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yes that is the basic but you do not have the angles right. 50 is at the origin. the new angle that hasnt been there before
OpenStudy (anonymous):
OpenStudy (anonymous):
That we do not know, the angle is next the center of the circle
OpenStudy (anonymous):
huh

Since the semicircle is 180, PR must be 130... right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
And, remember: an inscribed angle is 1/2 the arc.. right? therefore, the angle should be 65
PQR = 65
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So, the answer should be: 65.... Since 65 is 1/2 of 130...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ah thx a lot
