A sedan will drive ten miles north, 15 miles east, 13 miles south, 15 miles west, and 22 miles north. The sedan gets 20 miles per gallon, and there are five gallons of gas left in the tank. Compute the relative distance and the total distance. Then decide if there is enough fuel for the trip.

How many miles did you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take total miles driven/20 mpg = gallons used

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9 miles as a relative distance.... and 65 total

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for getting back

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

\(\bf 10 + 15 + 13 + 15 + 22 \ne 65\) also notice that, the 22 miles route, is really going "over" the origiinal 10 miles route

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks r u sure

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

let's see, 15 + 15 is 30, + 10 is 40, + 22..... + 13...

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):
