Her monthly earnings are y = 1000 + 150 x, where x is the number of cars she sold that month. The rest is yours.

Hello, Bardo, Looks as though you have a linear equation here. It has a fixed component ($1000) and a variable component, which I'll denote by r*x, where x is the number of cars sold and r is the additional amount of earnings per car sold. Supposing that our beautiful salesgirl sold four cars in a given month and for her efforts earned an extra $600. As our friend Douglas has calculated, that's $150 per car sold. His equation includes both the beauty's monthly fixed salary and that rate per car sold, and his x represents the number of cars she sells. What if she sells 6 cars? Can you do her a favor and predict her salary for the month in which she sold 6 cars?
