OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

@Vincent-Lyon.Fr Que signifie "coup"? Je le cherchais dans beaucoup de dictionnaire, je ne pouvais pas trouver une bonne reponse.

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

The translation will depend on context. Please specify. A 'coup' is literally a knock or a blow, but can be used in many other situations.

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

"A force de jeter mes trésors au brasier Brûlant tout en un \(\color{red}{\mbox{coup}}\) Pour vous faire crier"

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

'tout d'un coup' means 'all of a sudden' 'd'un seul coup' means 'all in one go', 'all at once', 'all in one shot'

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

Merci beau\(\color{red}{\text{coup}}\)! :D

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

like beaucoup obviously come from beau+coup?

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

So it's a good blow?

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

or a handsome blow?

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Maybe, but I'm not sure. It could mean 'beau coup' as in 'to reap a lot in one shot'. But nobody is aware of such a meaning nowadays. It is the same for 'maintenant' which actually comes from 'main tenant', that is '[the time] that you can hold in your hand'.
