how does variation occur in asexual reproduction?

OpenStudy (confusionist):

First think about how asexual reproduction occurs. An assortment of chromosomes paired with random fertilization occur with regular reproduction. Now, we know this isn't the case with asexual reproduction. \ Asexual reproduction tends to be a lot less faulty. Then again, you're right. Variation does occur. This is simply because of mutations.

OpenStudy (confusionist):

These mutations are in the DNA. Keep in mind these are very rare.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thnx... but i ead something like plasmid transfer wht is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its read

OpenStudy (anonymous):

n homologous recombination aswell...

OpenStudy (confusionist):

Check this out: In transformation, the cell takes up prokaryotic DNA directly from the environment. The DNA may remain separate as plasmid DNA or be incorporated into the host genome.

OpenStudy (confusionist):

I assume by plasmid transfer you mean when it's incorporated into the host genome?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm... thnx

OpenStudy (confusionist):

No problem. :)
