how can we compar simple harmonic motion with uniform circular motion ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Assume a particle moving in a circle in uniform circular motion. The shadow of the particle on any one diameter of the particle performs SHM with centre of circle as mean position

OpenStudy (anonymous):

actually sir that is incorrect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uniform circular motion IS SIMPLE HARMONIC MOTION

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My statement is not incorrect. what you're saying is probably true but i gave this example since its easier to visualize. The uniform circular motion of a particle about every co-ordinate of described circle is a simple harmonic motion but it is difficult to visualize. Most of the books give the example i gave and all equations used in an SHM are analogous to this example. Ergo!
