A 68-mile trip uses two gallons of gas. How many gallons would you use on a 110-mile trip? Round to the nearest tenth of a gallon awnsers are 1.2 3.2 3.8 4.1
A 68-mile trip uses two gallons of gas. So how far will 1 gallon take you?
Ok, first find out what one gallon of gas would be equal to so divide 68 by two which equals 34. So each gallon of gas is 34 miles. So this narrows it down to either 3.2 or 3.8 because it most certainly can't be 1.2 because that is less than a 68 mile trip which makes no sense. and it can't be 4.1 because 4 gallons of gas would be 136 miles. So we are left with 3.8 or 3.2. And doing the math - a half gallon equals 17 miles and 17 times 6 equals 102. Try using this to help you.
Once you know that 1 gallon gets you 34 miles, divide 110 miles by 34 miles.
