OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay sounds good

Okay im going to put the questions numbers in front of answer, So you know what question I used.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4. "Oh I remember I once dressed as a king Decked in fine robes and everything" "Then all of a sudden I was in a state of shock Caught and thrown on the auction block" These lyrics stand out to me because you see in the first line of lyrics he was royalty and he ruled his town. The second set of lyrics describe how he was just taken away from what he once knew to stand on the auction block and be auctioned for a slave.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3. The lyrics are telling a story of how these men were royalty in the town they came from. Once they were ripped from there home and taken as slaves everything was different for them. Until they learned to make this experience into a story that they survived the crucial punishment they were there to bare.

9. There are still many people in america that do not like African Americans, Even though some people turn heads, they still continue to overcome and succeed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6. This song is very upbeat. I think that the artists wants their listeners to to believe that slavery was a terrible part of there life that they have finally overcome.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10. I would ask them why they wrote the verse about Babylon in between the third and fourth chorus. I think it's random.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2. There's a verse in the song that says. "let's light the torch! Let Babylon burn yah!". This makes me think about when the Babylonians put the Israelis in captivity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5. Yes, the lyrics. "I have returned through the door of no return"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12. Music with historical/political/social messages are extremely valuable. There are so many songs out there that have negative messages. More songs like this one should be cherished and loved.
