I'll fan and give medal! Which conjunction or disjunction is equivalent to the open sentence |a – 7| ≤ 5? A. a – 7 ≤ 5 or a – 7 ≥ – 5 B. a – 7 ≤ 5 and a – 7 ≥ – 5 C. a – 7 ≥ 5 or a – 7 ≤ – 5 D. a – 7 ≥ 5 and a – 7 ≤ – 5

\[\left| a-7 \right|\le 5,-5\le (a-7)\le5\]

I want to know the actual answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i think of these things in this way...|dw:1389119949008:dw| whatever is inside the circle is less than 5 units in distance from the center. whatever is ouside the circle is more than 5 units in distance and whatever is on the circle is exactly 5 units in distance from the center.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good way to think of it :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1389120131524:dw| thinking of this as a number line, this means that a-7 has to be less than ? AND a-7 has to be greater than ?. make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay yes that makes sense. So that means the answer is....?\[Because I Am A Dumb Blonde.\]

|dw:1389120382876:dw| look at the picture and use your \(Dumb\,Blonde\,Brain\)
