Which lines are parallel if m4 = m5? Justify your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WILL GIVE MEDAL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

r and s because of AI (alternate interior angles)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

l is the transversal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the transversal??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The line that everything happens on. It's the one that passes through both parallel lines and has the angles you mentioned above on it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. so r and s are parallel because it has alternate interior angles???

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

angles 4 and 5 are independent of line "m" so line "m" is not necessary for 4 and 5 to be equal lines "r" and "s" are integral parts of those angles

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

you can think of it this way, if you were to erase line "m", 4 and 5 will still be equal and exist without it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. so... i need to able to put it into sentences explaining the answer

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well... erase line "m" check the remaining lines are they needed for angles 4 and 5 to exist? of the remaining lines and NEEDED ones, which ones HAVE TO BE parallel for 4 and 5 to stay equal?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

and you'll see which ones are necessary to be parallel for that to happen
