Select the correct inference of the given passage from "The Cask of Amontillado." "I continued, as was my wont, to smile in his face, and he did not perceive that my smile now was at the thought of his immolation."

Well, immolation is meaning to "sacrifice by fire" or "destroy". In "The Cask of Amontillado" he does, indeed, brick up his friend and toss a torch in after him where he is also sealed with the alcohol. Essentially, it is an inference to the planned "sacrifice" or "murder" he is about to commit.

By the way, good story, definitely recommend.
