A spinner has three sections. The table shows the results of spinning the arrow on the spinner 80 times. What is the experimental probability of the arrow stopping over Section 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 1/36 B. 1/18 C. 9/20 D.9/11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Probability is # of times it happened over total attempts. Section 2 happened 36 times, and the total number of spins is 80 36/80 simplifies to 9/20. The answer is c

A bag contains 8 black marbles, 16 white marbles, 14 red marbles, and 10 green marbles. A marble is to be drawn from the bag without looking. What is the probability that the marble drawn will not be white?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a. 1/3 B.2/3 C.3/4 D.15/16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, so there are 8+16+14+10=48 marbles and of those 48, 32 are not white. You take 32/48 and that simplifies to 2/3 making the answer B

I just did # of marbles that aren't white/total. Sorry, my definition of probability isn't that good :|
