Hi, Would anyone knows whether in actual MIT university whether this course will be taken alone or with other courses? I am trying to assess how much is the work load of a mathematics university year. Thank you in advance!
Students usually are enrolled in 4 or 5 courses per semester. An introductory course is usually 3 credit hours while an upper level course is 4 credit hours. Not including additional lab requirements that supplement the classwork itself, full-time students usually register for 15 or 16 credit hours per semester. It is hard to gauge the total workload of a mathematics major in his/her freshman year because in the United States (unlike in some countries) a mathematics student is required to take non-math classes (such as History, Literature, Philosophy, etc.) at some point in their college career. Thus, the total workload will depend on how good you are at subjects other than math.
That's a very good question, I was trying to find out that myself. Here you can see what is the course requirement for Computer Science SB: http://web.mit.edu/catalog/degre.engin.ch6.html Together with MITs Office Registrar http://student.mit.edu/catalog/m6a.html you can see for yourself what is actually required. Very good guide on how things work is here: http://web.mit.edu/firstyear/2017/subjects/girs.html
