3n – 2 = 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Add the 2 to the 4 and you get 6. Divide 6 by 3 and get your answer of 2. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx so much @rosemarytree12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're welcome. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would u do that for every single one or no @rosemarytree12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Everyone that looks like that problem? Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5 – 2q = 3 how would u do this would you do add 5+3=8 then divide 8 by 2= 4 right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, You do the opposite of the sign. Whatever you do to one side you do to the other. I'm just going to move the variable to be first so I can understand it better, like this. -2q +5 =3 Subtract 5 from itself to cancel it out. Then subtract 5 from 3 and you get 2. so now your problem is -2q = 2. divide -2 to itself to cancel it out and get the q alone and then do the same to the other side and your answer is q = -1.

Do you understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3w + 2 = 8 would you have to do that to this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You see how there is a + Sign before the 2?
