Hi all, just a general question. What is the Fnet equation for a frictionless banked turn?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

involving Fnormal and Fgrav!!!

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

i m not sure what u r asking about in frictionless banked road Nsin(theta) = mv^2/r and N cos (theta) = mg :S

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you for your response. However, I was actually referring to an Fnet equation involving Fnorm and Fgrav. For example, when you are at the top of a hill on a roller coaster, the Fnet= Fgrav-Fnorm. Any idea what something like that would be for a frictionless banked turn?

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

Fnet = mg - Ncos(thetha)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

N being the normal force?

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much!!!! :D

OpenStudy (cybershadow):

no worries Sir :)
