You have 2 points given. Choose one. I have chosen (-4,-2) Plug the values in the equations and there will be only one that satisfies it

@tester97

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Two points of the function are (4,3) and (-4,-2), so the slope of the function is \[\frac{ y1-y2 }{ x1-x2 }=\frac{ 3-(-2) }{ 4-(-4) }=\frac{ 5 }{ 8 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The formula of the function is y=mx+b. m is the slope. So the right answer should be y=5/8x+b. Thus D is right.

OpenStudy (tester97):

you are correct so using what @Chineseboy15 said, you would have the slope so now you would have to use the formula y=mx+b to get an equation so try plug in the 5/8 for m and use 4 for x then solve for b and then plug the answer you get for b back into the equation then you should have y=5/8x+1/2. does this make sense the way i explained it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanx , how about this one

OpenStudy (tester97):

use the same thing and plug in you x and y values then solve. right? @Chineseboy15 \[\frac{ y^1-y^2 }{x^1-x^2 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First find the two point of the function (0,-3) and (-2,-2). Slope is y1-y2/x1-x2 =-3-(-2)/0-(-2) =-1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you so much :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are right, @tester97.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are welcome @Luckyc2.

What are the slope and y-intercept of the graph of the given equation? y = –4x + 2 A. The slope is 2 and the y-intercept is –4. B. The slope is 4 and the y-intercept is –2. C. The slope is –2 and the y-intercept is –4. D. The slope is –4 and the y-intercept is 2.

OpenStudy (tester97):

slope is -4 and y intercept is 2 so the answer would be D right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Maybe you want to help @Luckyc2 this time. @tester97

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@tester97 is right.
